What to look at before you choose
Most ratings come from customers who had no choice of app
A bank's app comes with the account, so its users did not pick it on merit and cannot easily leave it. Ratings here read more like a complaint log about logins, OTPs and failed transfers than like a product review.
Big public sector banks carry very large rating counts
An app installed by tens of millions of account holders collects ratings at a scale few other apps reach. Compare the one star share between banks rather than the raw count, which mostly reflects the size of the customer base.
A three step check
Check the volume
A 4.8 from 30 ratings is a weaker signal than a 4.3 from 900.
Check the date
A business changes hands, a manager leaves, and the rating takes a year to catch up. Look at what people wrote this quarter.
Check whether anyone replied
A company that answers its worst reviews is telling you what happens when something goes wrong for you.
Questions
Does a low rating mean the bank itself is unsafe?
No. A store rating reflects what users chose to write about the app, usually about logins, updates or downtime. It says nothing about the bank's deposits, capital or regulatory standing.
How often is this ranking updated?
Whenever a source's rating average is refreshed. Each entry carries its own as of date.
Can a company pay to rank higher here?
No. Placement is the GoCredible Score and nothing else. If that ever changes, the paid entries are labelled inline.
